Gilmore Girls Season 1/Season 2?

Max proposes in the season finale of Season 1, and Lorelai breaks it off in about the third episode or so of Season 2. She basically realizes that she doesn't love Max enough to marry him...whether it was really lack of love or just commitment issues, only Lorelai knows.
